Game Post (GME.US), meme’s leader in the 2021 stock boom, has begun layoffs, according to a linkedin post by people familiar with the situation and those claiming to be affected. Some media, citing sources within the company, reported that this round of layoffs seriously affected the company’s blockchain wallet construction team.
At least six software engineers at Playpost claimed to have been fired on linkedin. GameStop, which was the first to report the news, said it could not confirm the size of the cuts, and did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
“We are going through a new round of massive layoffs at Gamepost, including e-commerce products and engineers,” a software engineer from Gamepost wrote on linkedin.
Another software engineer from Playpost wrote: “I’m sorry to say I’m one of the people the company is laying off today.” Another former employee tweeted about being fired, but using a screen name.
The move comes after Playpost announced a new round of layoffs after firing its chief financial officer in July.
